Are you looking for the perfect fall getaway for your family? Maybe your original plans were thwarted by COVID-19 and now you need a backup plan. The good new is that most National Parks are open and, even if you aren’t an especially outdoorsy family, there is still plenty for you to do and see at a National Park. Our team at Empire Rent A Car has listed the top 3 reasons why National Parks make the perfect family getaway.
Amusement parks are awesome, but let's be honest, kids hate standing in line. And now that social distancing is a concern on everyone's mind, you'll be thankful not to have to wade through any big crowds on this trip. At a National Park, there are miles and miles of trails for kids to run on, forests to explore, and multiple ways to burn off energy. After a day outside burning energy at a National Park, your kids will sleep great!
One of the best reasons to choose a National Park is how easy it is to plan a trip to one. Honestly, you could do zero planning ahead of time and still have a great day. All you have to do is make your fist stop at the Visitor Center. The Park Ranger will know the park inside and out, and can give you recommendations based on how many days you will be spending and what you want to get out of the trip. He can also provide you with a map and other information that will help you along your way.
With many of our children doing distance learning or homeschooling this year, having educational value in your trip is a big plus. Your kids will be learning from the minute they enter the National Park until they leave. And the best part is that they won't even realize they are learning. You can also find a variety of Ranger Led Programs with hands on activities for the kids, like touching bear fur or the horns of a bighorn sheep.
