3 NYC Attractions You Won’t Want to Miss This Holiday Season

Everyone knows that the most wonderful time of year is even more wonderful in New York City. Millions of tourists visit the city between Thanksgiving and New Years for a truly magical and unique holiday experience. Make this holiday season unforgettable by renting a car and braving the crowds to head to NYC. According to your friends at Empire Rent A Car, here are three of the top attractions that you won’t want to miss when you get into town.

1. Window Displays

Did you know that the department store window displays in New York City are an attraction all on their own? Each year, department stores deck the halls by mid-November, filling windows with festive displays or creating a winter wonderland within. The most popular displays include Macy's in Herald Square and Saks Fifth Avenue, on Fifth Avenue, both in Manhattan. Keep an eye out for the best displays as you wander the city or you can even book a walking tour to be sure you hit all of the most spectacular windows.

2. The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

You've surely seen it in pictures and movies; now you can see it for yourself. The 2019 tree is a Norway Spruce, stands at 77 feet tall, and hails from Orange County, New York. It's decorated with more than 50,000 multi-colored LED lights on nearly five miles of wire. Visit the tree at an off hour if you want to avoid crowds: At around 6:30 - 7:00 a.m., Rockefeller Center is quiet, and the tree has begun to shine before the masses arrive.

3. Bryant Park

Each year, Bryant Park is transformed into a winter wonderland atmosphere that includes an ice skating rink with free admission, holiday shops, and a bar and food lounge. Friendly tip: If you have your own skates, bring them. Though admission to the rink is free, skates are not.

There is no shortage of things to do and sites to see in NYC during the holidays, so planning your trip will be a blast!
