Labor Day Party in Brooklyn

If you want a festive Labor Day, Brooklyn is the place to be. Come up for the 46th annual West Indian American Day Carnival, a spectacular cultural celebration that draws millions of people.

Eating delicious jerk chicken, listening to world-renowned Caribbean artists, watching the dazzling floats from a day-long parade — this festival will delight all of your senses.

Events and Details

Produced by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA), this five-day festival begins with a Caribbean Woodstock on August 29 that features Lavaman Grenada, Statement Barbados, Trinity T&T, and a dozen other acclaimed Caribbean artists. Other events include a Panorama steel band competition and a youth fest that includes hip-hop, a fashion show, and spoken word.

The grand finale is a massive parade on September 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Affectionately called the “Greatest Show on Earth,” the parade winds through Brooklyn, NY, with 40 bands in costume, countless floats, dancers, and other entertainment. Don’t worry about being hungry while you watch. Hundreds of vendors line the streets selling foods from around the world.

This Labor Day spend your three-day weekend celebrating with the WIADCA. From tantalizing food to hundreds of fantastic performances, this will be an unforgettable festival for the whole family.
