Get in Touch with Nature in Brooklyn

When you think about enjoying nature, Brooklyn may not be the first place that comes to mind. You might think pizza, unique shopping, or the Brooklyn Bridge. However, you don’t have to leave NYC to enjoy the outdoors. All you need to do is head on over to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a beautiful garden in one of the world's most famous urban settings. Its aim is to "connect people to the world of plants, fostering delight and curiosity while inspiring an appreciation and sense of stewardship of the environment." During the summer, the gardens are open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission prices are very reasonable:

  • Adults: $12
  • Seniors (65+) and Students with ID (12+): $6
  • Children (under 12): Free
  • School groups: Free

Plus, on Tuesdays (all day) and Saturdays (from 10 am. to noon) everyone can get free admission to the gardens and conservatory. This deal is great if you're looking for ways to explore New York on a budget. While you're there, be sure to check out over thirteen distinct gardens, such as the Japanese Garden, the Children's Garden, or the Rock Garden. You can also explore five conservatories: Aquatic House, Bonsai Museum, Desert Pavilion, Tropical Pavilion, and Warm Temperate Pavilion.

While in Brooklyn, spend some time reconnecting with nature and discovering plants from around the world. For all your NYC travels, you can rely on Empire Rent A Car.
