When choosing the right car at Empire Rent A Car, it can be easy to second guess your selection. Compact and economy cars have a lot in common, but they also have some key differences. Making a wise choice will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable trip, either for work or pleasure. So, let’s take a look at some of those key differences to help you make a decision.
Two of the most apparent differences between economy and compact cars are their size and seating capacity. Most economy cars have just two doors and can comfortably seat three or four adults. Small children can ride perfectly in the backseat, as well. On the other hand, compact cars come standard with four doors and easily fit five adults or three kids and two adults. To know whether you're choosing the right one requires knowing how long you'll be in the car and who is coming along on your trip.
If gas mileage is a big concern for you, then you'll be pleased to hear that both economy and compact cars get excellent gas mileage. You can expect anywhere between 30-35 miles per gallon (or more) driving an economy car. As for compact cars, you can get anywhere between 25-30 miles per gallon or more! Choosing between these two types of vehicles when it comes to fuel economy really depends on your budget and what you're willing to spend at the pump.
Trunk space in economy cars is limited, but that doesn't mean you have to worry just yet. These vehicles can easily accommodate several small bags or carry-ons, in addition to one or two small suitcases. As you might expect, you'll get more luggage room in a compact car. With this trunk space, you can easily fit a large suitcase, a medium suitcase, and several small carry-on bags. Luggage is just one more thing for you to consider when choosing between these cars.
